| Regional Trails in Northeast Minnesota

There are three non-motorized regional trails in NE Minnesota. The Gitchi-Gami State Trail, the Willard Munger State Trail, and the Mesabi Trail.

| Mn/DOT District One
|
District 1 lies between Minneapolis/St. Paul and the United States/Canadian border and supports the transportation network of northeastern Minnesota, including the counties of Cook, Lake, St. Louis, Carlton, Pine, Aitkin, Itasca and Koochiching. Duluth, the location of the district headquarters, is situated at the western tip of Lake Superior and overlooks an international harbor and Lake Superior (the largest freshwater lake in the world).  |
